AION 2 map and regions

AION 2’s world is 36 times the size of the original AION’s, and it is built for height as much as distance. NC’s Korean guide puts the Elyos lands in the south of Atreia and the Asmodian lands in the north, with the Abyss open to both; NC has not yet published the English names the global client will use.

“Built on Unreal Engine 5 across a world 36 times larger than the original AION, this is the only MMORPG built for aerial combat.”

“Every region, every battlefield, every encounter was designed with verticality as its axis.”

The regions the Korean guide names

The English names here are the ones the original AION used for the same Korean names; the global client may spell them differently. The Korean version is a year ahead, so global may not open every one of these at launch.

RegionFactionWhat the Korean guide says
Verteron (베르테론)ElyosHolds the Dawn Legion's secret base, hidden deep in a cliff in the Kantas valley. One of the two territories fought over in rift battles.
Altgard (알트가르드)AsmodianThe Steelhammer trading company's base was once Altgard's logistics hub, a port for airships from the Abyss; long fighting left it partly destroyed. The other rift-battle territory.
Eltnen (엘테넨)ElyosAdded in the Korean Chapter 1 update, which also raised the level cap to 50.
Morheim (모르헤임)AsmodianAdded in the same Chapter 1 update.
The Abyss (에레슈란타)BothA lower and a middle layer of floating rock and the ruins of fortresses wrecked in the last war, each with bases on opposite sides. In parts of the middle layer the minimap hides everyone's position, allies included.

Each faction only lives on its own side; how the two relate, and why the side you pick is really a server choice, is on Elyos or Asmodian. The Abyss is covered on PvP and the Abyss.

Getting around

Much of the travel happens in the air. Flying, gliding, wind paths that carry you without using flight gauge, and updrafts that launch you into the sky are all explained on the beginner guide. For quests, the auto-move walks you to the objective if you let it.

What the world map shows (Korean version)

  • Sealed dungeons and garrisons are marked with question marks; follow them to find the entrance. What they drop is on dungeons.
  • Field bosses are listed on the map’s exploration tab, with where each one is and how long until it appears. Everyone who contributes to a kill gets loot.
  • Dimensional invasions, open-world events where players fight off waves and a boss, start at half past every hour somewhere in each faction’s lands, with a map icon and a system message.
  • Space-Time Rifts, portals into the other faction’s territory, show as map icons when they open. When they open on global is not published; see rifts.
