AION 2 Assassin guide

The Assassin is AION 2’s dagger class: melee burst damage that works best from behind the target. In the Korean version it approaches in stealth, strikes fast with two daggers and stacks poison, stuns and blinds to finish a fight before the target can answer.

How an Assassin fights

NC’s Korean guide describes a class that closes in from stealth and wins with fast combos, poison and stuns, built for defeating a target in a short time. The skill list backs that up with a lot of attacks that care where you stand. Several are stronger from behind, one teleports you to the target’s back, and a passive raises all damage dealt from the rear.

Stealth
A walk in shadow that hides you, usable only out of combat and broken when a fight starts. It is how you pick the opening, not a way out.
Marks
Some attacks brand the target with a mark that slows its attack speed and cannot be cleansed. A detonation hits harder and is likelier to stun the more marks there are, and at five marks another skill always lifts the target into the air.
Poison
Hits can poison the target, which also cuts the healing it receives.
The burst window
A clone buff that, for a while, removes the cooldown of a stab that only lights up after a critical hit. This is where the Assassin’s damage spikes.
Getting hit less
Evasion instead of a block, a stance that dodges every attack for a moment, and a skill that breaks slows and roots and makes you immune to them.

The catch: someone has to hold the boss

Attacks from behind need a target that is facing someone else. In a group that is the tank’s job, so the Assassin is at its best next to a Templar or a Gladiator. On its own against a boss that keeps turning, it loses much of that bonus. Korean-server guide makers put it near the top of their damage charts, especially in short fights, and also call it the squishiest melee class and one that takes practice to play well.

In the Launch Scale Test, one player who tried both melee damage options settled quickly:

“Played assassin, was great, then tried gladiator - still fun, just a bit more clunky. Will probably stick with assassin.”

(From r/Aion2 thread: first impressions from the Launch Scale Test)

Pick it for

  • Short, explosive fights where one burst window decides the outcome.
  • Open-world PvP: stealth to choose the moment, marks and stuns to finish it.
  • A kit with room to get better at, since timing and positioning carry the damage.

Think twice if

  • You want to solo bosses: facing and positioning work against you.
  • You dislike dying: Korean-server players call it the squishiest melee class.
  • You want to be judged less on damage numbers, since damage is the only slot it fills.

For group-versus-group fights and the Abyss, the Assassin’s value is in picking the right target; the PvP page covers how those fights work.

“A cold-blooded assassin who cuts through darkness and approaches unseen with deadly silence”

(NC’s one-line description, from the class list on the official AION 2 global site)

If you are torn between burst from behind and steady damage from range, compare it with the Ranger, the other class that deals only physical damage. The tier list shows how far the Assassin’s placing swings between Korean-server lists, and the best class for new players weighs how demanding it is for a first character. The weapon skin in the Deluxe and Ultimate packs binds to a single class, so settle this before claiming it; the Founder’s Pack comparison explains what binds to what.
