AION 2 Cleric guide: the healer

The Cleric is AION 2’s healer, and the only class the Korean party finder lists as a healer and nothing else. It keeps the party alive with group heals and cleanses, and it is the only class whose Korean skill list can bring a fallen party member back in the middle of a fight.

The healing kit in the Korean version

NC’s Korean guide describes a textbook healer carrying a mace: many recovery skills to keep allies’ health up, and a class that holds the team together in a crisis. None of the heals needs a target picked out; they work on the party around you.

Everyday heals
A heal over time for you and nearby party members, a heal that finds the party member with the lowest health, and a party heal that also removes debuffs.
Stigma options
An aura that keeps healing the party while it lasts, and a cleanse that strips up to two debuffs from everyone near you.
When it goes wrong
Resurrection of a dead party member within range, brought back beside you, and a short invulnerability that also blocks crowd control.
Party buff
A toggle raising the party’s damage and damage resistance. It does not stack with the Chanter’s equivalent mantra.
Damage
Lightning and earth spells cast at range, brands that weaken enemies and hurt them over time, and a summoned holy energy that fires at your target.

One passive ties the two halves together: the Cleric’s healing grows with its attack power. Gear that raises your damage raises your heals as well.

Groups will want you; can you level alone?

Demand is the Cleric’s strongest argument. It fills a slot only one other class can cover, and a player who had played on the Taiwanese service described the shortage from the other side:

“In TW we could never find cleric and wait very long before we can enter the dungeons.”

(From r/Aion2 thread: Clearing some class balance misconceptions)

“Solo farm as cleric is perfectly fine. And any ranked solo content in within classes. So you would compete against other clerics.”

(From r/Aion2 thread: Clearing some class balance misconceptions)

The second quote is the reply that player got. On Korean-server damage charts the Cleric is the lowest class in every fight, but the damage is real, and solo quests and farming are within reach of every class. Leveling pace is on the leveling guide.

One limit came up in the Launch Scale Test: heals only reach your own party.

“As a cleric I wish I had more control over healing. For instance I wish I could heal non party Members. But I guess that just means they better invite me.”

(From r/Aion2 thread: first impressions from the Launch Scale Test)

Strengths

  • The strongest healing, cleansing and emergency tools of any class.
  • Resurrection, which no other class has in the Korean version.
  • Group PvP, where keeping allies up changes the outcome.

Weaknesses

  • The lowest damage, which slows solo farming.
  • Few ways to stop an opponent in a one-on-one fight.
  • Healing is limited to party members.

The other healer is the Chanter, which trades healing for buffs and damage; the tank you will spend most fights keeping up is usually the Templar. A player’s tier list on the Korean servers once told people not to pick the Cleric at all, while other lists rank it top for groups; the tier list page puts that in context.
