Best solo class in AION 2
Every class can play alone, so the question is how fast and how safely. For questing and open-world farming, the Gladiator is the class players on the Korean servers recommend most, with the Ranger and Spiritmaster close behind. For the one-player dungeon the scoreboard says something different: the Assassin leads it and the Gladiator sits near the bottom.
Two kinds of solo
“Solo” covers two different things in AION 2, and the classes rank differently in each:
- Levelling and the open world
- Quests, farming and field bosses. What counts is not dying and killing groups of enemies without resting. Durable classes and ranged ones win here.
- The one-player dungeon
- A timed run in which you clear every area and then the final boss on your own. What counts is burst damage on a single target, which is a different skill.

The one-player dungeon, by the numbers
Average scores in the solo dungeon on the Korean and Taiwanese ranking boards, before NC took its official leaderboard offline in September. Higher is better; each figure is a class’s standing relative to the others in that mode.
On the Korean board the Assassin scores about ten times what the Gladiator does. That is the whole argument about the Gladiator in one chart: the class that feels the safest to level with is the slowest at clearing a timed boss alone.

Gladiator: the safe pick for levelling
Life steal and a weapon block mean mistakes rarely end a fight, and its knockdowns keep single enemies helpless. It is the class most often recommended for playing alone. The one weak spot is timed solo bosses, where it falls behind classes with more burst. Gladiator guide.
Ranger and Spiritmaster: kill it before it reaches you
The Ranger shoots from range and slows or traps what gets close, which makes open-world farming smooth. The Spiritmaster lets its spirits do the work: in the Korean version one heals it and another draws enemies away. Players call it the most comfortable solo class and it scores well in the one-player dungeon, though a Korean-server guide maker calls its reputation as the very best solo class a myth. Assassin: best on the solo boss, harder in the field
It leads the one-player dungeon on both boards, and guides rate its single-target damage among the highest. In the open world it is slower, since much of its damage needs an enemy’s back, and packs of enemies are hard work. Assassin guide.
Templar and Cleric: you will not die, you will just take longer
Both were built to keep a group alive, and alone that shows up as safety rather than speed. On the first day of the global Early Access a Templar player asked whether its damage was enough alone; the answer from another player:
“No you will not struggle in solo at all.”
The Cleric is the slowest of the eight at solo content, with the lowest damage, but it is hard to kill and every group wants one once you do want company. Templar and Cleric guides.
Before you settle on a solo class
