AION 2 errors and fixes
Early Access opened an hour late and straight into full servers, so the first day’s problems were mostly about getting in at all. Find what you are seeing in the table, try the first fix, and read on if it does not work. Most of these fixes come from players who got past them; NC has published a fix for one, the Steam error code.
| What you see | Try this first |
|---|---|
| “Character creation on this server is restricted” | Pick one of the newest servers in your region, or wait on the list |
| Queue of thousands, then back to the main menu | Rejoin at once; change no settings that restart the client |
| “You don't have Advanced Access” with a pack | Quit Steam fully and start it again |
| “Click the screen” and nothing happens | Keep clicking; the server list appears once the login goes through |
| Crash at the NC logo or the PC restarts | Close Razer, ASUS Armoury Crate and other device software |
| Play is greyed out, or the game is still decrypting | Restart Steam, then leave the decrypt to finish |
| Error 1138:100134 on Steam | Run Steam as administrator |
| Gamepad does nothing on Steam | Turn Steam Input off for AION 2 |
| AION 2 not in PURPLE's game list (South-East Asia) | Set PURPLE's region to Global |
| Back to server select after pressing Start | No player fix yet; send NC a support ticket |
Character creation on this server is restricted
“Character creation on this server is restricted. Please choose another server”
The server you picked is full and has stopped taking new characters. You have two ways round it:
- Take a newer server. On the first day NC opened Yustiel and Marchutan, then Ariel and Azphel, then Fregion and Ereshkigal, in Europe. New pairs are the least crowded; the current list is on regions and servers.
- Wait on the server list. Creation reopens as the server makes room, and players who stayed on that screen got through without switching.
If your friends are on the full server, starting elsewhere is less of a split than it sounds: dungeons are cross-server, and server transfers within your faction open on 14 October. Early Access or launch servers weighs where to start.
The queue throws you back to the menu
Queues on the first evening ran into the thousands on European and North American servers, and some players dropped from a low position straight back to the main menu, then rejoined at the end. There is no fix on your side, but you can avoid losing your place for nothing:
- Set graphics before you queue Some settings, frame generation among them, ask for a client restart, and a restart puts you at the back.
- Rejoin at once if you are dropped Your place is not held, so every minute away is a minute further back.
- Mind the Steam refund clock Steam counts the time the client is open, queue included, towards its two-hour refund limit. If you are still deciding, quit rather than leave it queuing overnight. Refunds for the packs are on Founder’s Packs compared.
Members wait in a separate priority queue when a server is at capacity; how that works is on server status and queues.
“You don’t have Advanced Access” with a Founder’s Pack
“You don’t have Advanced Access and cannot enter. Access will be available after the official launch. The client will now close.”
The client has not picked up your pack yet. NC’s own advice is to restart Steam completely, since Steam can take a while to sync your account status. In the order players found worked:
- Quit Steam completely and start it again Close it from the system tray, not just the window, then launch AION 2 from your library.
- Restart the PC If a Steam restart alone does not do it.
- Turn off any VPN And verify the game files from the game’s Properties in Steam.
- Check the launcher A pack bought on Steam only works when you log in through Steam, and a PURPLE pack only through PURPLE. The differences are on Steam or PURPLE.
Sent back to server select when you press Start
Some players got through the queue, picked their character, pressed Start and landed back on the server list, again and again, while a second account on the same PC worked. Nobody has found a fix on the player side, and it looks tied to the account. If it keeps happening, send a ticket to NC’s support with your account name and the server.
“Click the screen” does nothing
The title screen waits for the login to go through before it reacts, and on a busy evening that takes a while. Keep clicking: players who kept at it for about a minute reached the server list. If it never reacts, restart the client, which costs you nothing at this point since you are not yet in a queue.
Crash at the NC logo, or the PC restarts
No official fix yet. What players traced it to was device software that hooks into games. These are player fixes, so try one at a time, note what you changed, and put it back if it makes no difference:
- closing Razer Synapse and stopping its services, which players did from msconfig; tick Hide all Microsoft services first so you only touch Razer’s, and re-enable them afterwards;
- ending ASUS Armoury Crate in Task Manager before you press Play;
- unplugging extra USB devices, a second mouse or a headset stand with lighting;
- going back one graphics driver version with the card maker’s own installer, if the crash started after an update.
If none of it helps, undo the changes and send a ticket to NC’s support rather than going further. Also check the PC clears the minimum on system requirements: a card with less than 4 GB, or Windows 10 in 32-bit, will not run it.
Play is greyed out, or the game is stuck decrypting
The pre-download was encrypted, and the client unpacks it when Early Access opens. If Steam still shows the game as coming on 5 October, or the Play button stays grey, restart Steam; that is what got the unpack going for players stuck on it. The decrypt itself can take hours on a slow drive, so leave it running. Download and install covers space and the SSD recommendation.
Error 1138:100134 on Steam
NC’s own fix:
“If this error occurs, please run Steam as an administrator and then launch the game again. If the same error still occurs after running Steam as an administrator, please submit a request to our Customer Service team.”
Steam account already linked
If you played the Steam playtest, the game may have made an NC account for your Steam login back then, so linking Steam to the NC account you actually use says it is taken. Unlink it on PURPLE’s site, under Manage Login:
“Click the ‘Disconnect’ button on Steam. After disconnecting you are free to connect your NC account with a new Steam account.”
Only do this if the account being unlinked has nothing on it you want. Other account trouble, from bans at checkout to missing verification emails, is on account and login problems.
Controls: gamepad, invert mouse, key bindings
- Gamepad not responding on Steam: open AION 2’s Properties in Steam, then Controller, and turn Steam Input off; the game reads the pad directly. Controllers still are not officially supported, as controller support explains.
- No invert camera: the settings have no option to invert the mouse, and movement keys cannot all be rebound. There is no workaround in the game.
Kicked out while making your character
The game disconnects anyone idle for more than 30 minutes on the character creator or the server list, and that catches people who take their time over a face. Settle the broad strokes first, or pick a preset and adjust it; character presets shows what you can start from, and the 30-minute Customization Voucher on Twitch Drops lets you change it later.
AION 2 missing from PURPLE
In Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand, AION 2 may not appear in PURPLE’s game list with your country selected. Change PURPLE’s region setting to Global, and restart PURPLE if the game still does not show.
Founder’s Pack items not there
The pack items are delivered during Early Access, and players found the claim only opens once the tutorial is done. Finish it first and look again before contacting support. Before you claim, check which items bind to one character or one server on Founder’s Packs compared.
