AION 2 Guide

Best PvP class in AION 2

AION 2 has three kinds of PvP and no class is best at all three. For one-on-one arena, Korean-server guides pick the Gladiator and Assassin while the ranking boards favour the Cleric and Templar; in five-a-side arena the Chanter’s buffs win; in the big Abyss battles the Cleric, Sorcerer and Templar matter most.

Three kinds of PvP

Solo arena

One against one, a set number of kills inside a time limit. Burst and control decide it.

Team arena

Five against five, first team wiped loses. Buffs and healing count for more.

The Abyss

Open battles between the factions’ paired servers. Staying alive and area damage count most.

Disputed means the Korean-server rankings point one way and the ranking boards the other. The two biggest cases are below.

Solo arena: closer than any tier list

Solo arena: win rate by class Korea Taiwan
  1. Cleric62.2%60.2%
  2. Templar61.0%60.0%
  3. Gladiator59.6%59.7%
  4. Assassin59.4%59.0%
  5. Chanter60.3%58.0%
  6. Ranger60.0%58.0%
  7. Spiritmaster60.1%57.8%
  8. Sorcerer59.6%57.6%

On the Korean board the whole field sits within three percentage points. The Cleric has the best win rate there, which surprises people, since guides say it cannot finish anyone: it rarely loses because it rarely dies. The Assassin, a favourite of every duelling guide, has the lowest Korean win rate. Rankings from people who watch the fights and boards that count the results disagree here more than anywhere, so pick a duellist you enjoy.

The Abyss: survive and hit many

Abyss: kills and assists per death, by class Korea Taiwan

  5. Assassin4.565.05
  6. Ranger5.383.74
  7. Chanter4.164.33
  8. Spiritmaster4.323.85

Big fights reward the classes that stay alive and hit several players at once. The Templar holds the front line and pulls enemies in, the Cleric keeps everyone standing, and the Sorcerer’s area damage lands on crowds. Guides say the Assassin, built to pick off one target, has little to do in a formation, though on the boards the Chanter and Spiritmaster score lower. What the Abyss is and when your faction meets the other is on PvP and the Abyss.

Before you pick for PvP

  • Gear matters more than class. A well-geared player of a weaker class beats a fresh one of a stronger class; on a new global server, everyone starts level.
  • Healing is weaker in PvP. Healing received in the Abyss, battlegrounds and arenas is cut, so sustain that carries you in dungeons does less here.
  • Battlegrounds even out stats. In the Korean version everyone fights with the same stats there, which is the fairest test of a class.
  • Ping hurts melee most. The Assassin above all needs a low ping; from Oceania or South-East Asia, read playing on high ping.

Your faction decides which server you fight: Elyos or Asmodian. For PvE the order changes again, as best PvE class shows, and the class finder puts PvP against everything else.
