AION 2 Chanter guide
The Chanter is AION 2’s support class: a staff fighter whose mantras buff the whole party, who heals well enough to cover a group and hits hard enough to take a damage slot. It is the one class the Korean party finder files under both healer and damage.
“A venerable guardian who bolsters allies with divine blessings and steadfast protection”
(NC’s one-line description, from the class list on the official AION 2 global site)
A support that fights at the front
NC’s Korean guide calls the Chanter a master of mantras, its word for buffs: it raises allies’ stats, controls enemies with status effects, and can back up the healing and the damage. It fights at melee range with a staff and blocks like the melee classes, and one strike reaches out at range.
| Chanter | In the Korean version |
|---|---|
| Role | Support: buffs, backup healing |
| Weapon | Staff |
| Korean party finder | Healer or damage |
| Range | Melee, with one ranged strike |
| How it takes a hit | Blocks with the staff, plus party shields |
Mantras and the rest of the kit (Korean version)
- Always-on mantras
- Toggles that affect you and the party around you: one raises damage and damage resistance, another raises movement speed and heals on hit.
- Short, strong buffs
- Party combat speed with lower cooldowns, a shield that forms each time a party member is hit, and a spell that for a time keeps everyone’s health from falling below a set point.
- Healing
- A core party heal that also clears one debuff and keeps healing over time, and a second party heal as a stigma option.
- Fighting
- A dash onto the target, a stun, a spinning area strike, and a ranged strike that lights up after certain other skills. A passive turns every tenth hit into a shield for the party.
The damage mantra does not stack with the Cleric’s party buff of the same kind: the Korean skill list says only the higher skill level applies, and the Chanter’s wins a tie. Most of the rest combine, and Korean-server guide makers rate a Cleric and a Chanter together highly.
Chanter or Cleric?
Both can queue as the healer. The Cleric has more dedicated healing, the only resurrection in the Korean skill lists and more emergency tools, and Korean-server guide makers say it is the one harder content needs. The Chanter heals less and buffs more, deals more damage, and can switch to a damage slot when a group already has its healer. English-language guide makers on the Korean servers call it a relaxed class to play, since its buffs come online early and it does not have to stand at a boss’s back.
Returning players may find it familiar. One veteran of the first game who played the Launch Scale Test wrote:
“I didn't dig too deep into the skill trees but I could see, for Chanter, I could probably do my original PvP build from Aion 1.”
Good at
- Making the whole party stronger and faster, all fight long.
- Getting into groups two ways: as healer or as damage.
- Looking after itself when playing alone, with heals and shields in its own kit.
Less good at
- Keeping a group alive alone through heavy, constant damage.
- Winning one-on-one duels against dedicated damage classes.
- Showing its value on a damage meter, since much of it sits in other players’ numbers.
Tier lists split hard on the Chanter: one player’s list from the Korean and Taiwanese servers says not to pick it, others rank it well; the tier list page shows why. If you like protecting a group but would rather be the one taking the hits, compare the Templar. For a first character, the best class for new players weighs the support role against the rest. And because the Founder’s Pack weapon skin binds to one class, claim it only once the Chanter is settled; see the Founder’s Pack comparison.
