AION 2 Ranger guide
The Ranger is AION 2’s archer: ranged physical damage with a bow, backed by traps, snares and shots that move you around the fight. NC’s Korean guide calls it a tactical class that rewards reading the battlefield, picking position and timing, more than it rewards raw speed.
What the Ranger is for
Damage from a distance, and control over where the fight happens. The Korean party finder lists it only as damage, like the Assassin, but the two play very differently: the Ranger does not need to stand behind anything, and it keeps hitting while it moves.

The kit in the Korean version
- Its arrows carry elements: most deal wind damage, some earth or fire.
- Control comes from all directions: a snare arrow that slows, one trap that stuns and one that lifts enemies into the air, a blinding shot, a seal shot, and a kick that lands behind the target, knocks it away and hops you back.
- A dash shot moves you in the direction you press and puts you in a precision state with more critical hits. That state unlocks a stun shot and strengthens an aimed charge shot.
- Critical hits can open bleeds that also reduce the healing the target receives.
- A stigma summons an orb that fires support shots beside you and drains life.
- Defence is evasion, not blocking, plus a stealth that works only out of combat.
Slows and binds feed the damage too: a passive and two arrows hit harder against a target that is already slowed or bound, so the traps are part of the rotation, not only an escape.
What testers found
The Launch Scale Test stopped characters at level 37, far short of the Korean cap. A player who took a Ranger through it, dungeons included, found the difficulty about right:
“Played as archer and I think its not that hard but not super easy as well. Especially the last dungeon is a bit on the harder side in the first run. If every of the dungeon group has max gear its easy but without that I think it was quite enjoyable”
Guide makers on the Korean servers describe the same arc: an archer that feels ordinary at first and turns into a steady stream of shots as skills level up, strong for farming in the open world early on and consistent in long boss fights later. Getting there is covered on the leveling guide.
Why people pick it
- Damage from range, with no need to reach the target’s back.
- Shots that move you around the fight, which the casters mostly lack.
- Traps and snares that make open-world fights and PvP kiting easier.
What to watch for
- No block: big hits have to be dodged.
- Early levels feel plain until the kit fills out.
- Its damage in groups rewards players who tune it carefully.
“A quiet hunter who commands the battlefield with a single, decisive shot”

The closest alternative at range is the Spiritmaster, which trades mobility for spirits that fight beside you. Claiming the Founder’s Pack weapon skin locks it to one class, so choose first; the Founder’s Pack comparison has the details.
