AION 2 Sorcerer guide
The Sorcerer is AION 2’s pure magic damage class: a spellbook, fire and frost spells, and a kit built to deal a lot of damage in a short time. The price is written into the class: in the Korean version NC warns that its defence and health are low, so it depends on keeping its distance and freezing whatever gets close.
| Sorcerer | In the Korean version |

Fire for damage, frost for control
The Korean skill list splits the Sorcerer in two. Fire hits leave a mark on the target, and a marked target can take extra fire damage; a charged fire spell is the big area hit. Frost slows, roots and freezes, and one spell hits hardest against a target that is already frozen.
- A shield that soaks damage for a while and raises damage resistance.
- Ice armour that can freeze whoever hits you and, while your mana is above half, moves part of the damage onto your mana.
- A curse that turns the target into a tree, lowering its fire resistance, while you back away. Hitting it breaks the curse.
- Hibernation: frozen in place and immune to damage and crowd control. You can end it early to heal and jump backwards.
- A delayed blast that makes the target take more damage from you until it goes off.
Read as a list, most of that is survival. It has to be: with no block and no evasion passive, the Sorcerer stays alive by not being hit, and by making sure whatever reaches it cannot act.
“A harbinger of ruin who devours all with a storm of arcane power”
(NC’s one-line description, from the class list on the official AION 2 global site)
How demanding is it?
Korean-server guide makers rate it among the hardest classes to play well. Its skills feed each other’s cooldowns, so the rotation is a chain rather than one button, and it comes together only as skills are leveled; early on it can feel slower than its reputation. It also stands still a lot while casting. In return it is at or near the top of Korean damage charts in the latest raids, and its crowd control gives it options in PvP.
After the Launch Scale Test, one player planning a Sorcerer put the fear simply:
“I hope i wont be the sorc who dies every time...”
(From r/Aion2 thread: Clearing some class balance misconceptions)
The answer is mostly spacing: stay at range, save a freeze or root for whatever closes in, and keep the shield or hibernation for the hit you cannot dodge.
It rewards you with
- High damage in short windows, from range.
- Slows, roots, freezes and a polymorph for control.
- Some of the best raid numbers on the Korean servers.
It asks for
- Careful spacing, since NC built it with low defence and health.
- Patience while the kit comes online with skill levels.
- Manual cooldown timing rather than one repeated button.
If you want magic damage with more staying power, the Spiritmaster is the other caster; for steadier ranged damage with more movement, the Ranger. The Sorcerer’s climb up Korean-server rankings over time is on the tier list, and whether it is wise as a first character is on the best class for new players. The Founder’s Pack weapon skin binds to one class and one server, so pick before you claim; the Founder’s Pack comparison lists the rules.
