How many classes does AION 2 have in the global version?

NC's global site lists eight: Gladiator, Templar, Assassin, Ranger, Chanter, Cleric, Sorcerer and Spiritmaster. The ninth class added to the Korean version is not on that list, and NC has not said whether or when it will come.

Which AION 2 classes can tank or heal?

In the Korean party finder, Templar and Gladiator can be recruited as tanks and Cleric and Chanter as healers. Gladiator and Chanter can also fill a damage slot.

Is the Brawler class in AION 2 global?

No. The ninth class, 권성 in Korean and called Brawler by English-speaking fans, is live in Korea but is not one of the eight classes on NC's global class list, and NC has not said whether or when it comes. Brawler is not an official English name.

AION 2 classes: the eight on the global class list

NC’s global AION 2 site lists eight classes: Gladiator, Templar, Assassin, Ranger, Chanter, Cleric, Sorcerer and Spiritmaster. Templar and Gladiator can sign up as tanks, Cleric and Chanter as healers, and the other four are pure damage dealers. Pick a role below to narrow the table, or open a class for its own guide.

The weapon names are plain English for what each class carries in the Korean version; the item names in the English client may read differently. Range tells you where you stand in a fight: melee classes have to reach the target and stay on it, the ranged ones cast or shoot from a distance.

Tank, healer or damage: how groups are built

When you recruit for a group dungeon in the Korean version, the party finder asks which roles you are looking for, and it files every class under one or two of them. In that version a group dungeon takes up to five players, and Elyos and Asmodians can queue into the same group. This is the split, and it is the clearest guide to how much a group will want you:

Tank: Templar, Gladiator: Templar is the tank and nothing else. Gladiator is listed as a tank and as damage, so it can take either slot, which is also why it is called the second tank.
Healer: Cleric, Chanter: Cleric is the healer and nothing else. Chanter is listed as a healer and as damage: it heals less and brings party-wide buffs instead.
Damage: Gladiator, Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Chanter: Four classes only deal damage: the Assassin up close, the Ranger with a bow, and the Sorcerer and Spiritmaster with magic. Gladiator and Chanter can join this list too.

So a class that can only take one slot competes with every other player of that class for it, and the two that take two slots have more ways in. How NC describes each class

The global site gives every class one line, and not much more:

Gladiator: “A frontline vanguard who carries a colossal blade and tears through the battlefield like a raging storm”
Templar: “A sworn guardian who stands firm like a fortress wall, holding the battlefield with an unbreakable shield”
Assassin: “A cold-blooded assassin who cuts through darkness and approaches unseen with deadly silence”
Ranger: “A quiet hunter who commands the battlefield with a single, decisive shot”
Chanter: “A venerable guardian who bolsters allies with divine blessings and steadfast protection”
Cleric: “A holy shepherd who preserves life with the gentle touch of light”
Sorcerer: “A harbinger of ruin who devours all with a storm of arcane power”
Spiritmaster: “A herald of spirits who commands the battlefield with elemental power”

The Korean version has been live far longer, so it is where the detail lives: skill lists, what each class is for in a group and how it changes as you level. Each class page on this site uses it, marked as the Korean version, because the global balance can differ.

The ninth class is not on the global list

Korea got a ninth class, 권성, with its first major update (Chapter 1). NC’s Korean guide describes a melee fighter that charges in, builds up rage and spends it on a rampage state, and fights with gauntlets. English-speaking fans call it the Brawler; that is a fan name, not an official one, since NC has not named it in English.

It is not on the global class list, which names only the eight above, and NC has not said whether or when it might arrive. If you are coming from the Korean or Taiwanese servers, the differences between the versions are on Taiwan and Korea versions.

Picking one

There is no official ranking of the classes. The tier list page lays out what Korean-server lists say side by side and where they disagree.
